Of course. And for the third time, I'll say this: I'm sorry that people were offended. But I'm not sorry for making those posts. Basically, I didn't want to offend anyone, but I'm not going to retract my comments, because I don't think that anyone has reasonable cause to be offended.

It's like it never gets through, no matter how many times I say it. I'm not intending to offend anyone. In fact, if I have offended anyone, I'm sorry I have.

...What I'm not sorry for is for making the topic in the first place, or for making any replies to it. If I thought the people here had reasonable objections to the topic, I would have retracted my comments and apologized. However, I don't feel that way; I don't think anyone here is actually offended, nor should they be. It's a harmless joke, blown out of proportion.

The literal definition of lucid is "clear" and "aware," as in capable, open-minded, and rational free thought. I'm not held back by a religion, and I can think and speak freely, rather than conforming to the typical "form" and tactics of arguments, which is why I can call people out on tactics which are intended to make themselves look better, but don't really offer anything to the argument. Again, announcing that you're going to be mature and drop the argument does not make you mature, nor is it dropping the argument.

What IS important is that is that you've moved from what might have been intended to be a harmless joke into a form of assault against the religion.

But not an assault on the people who believe in it, which is what would be moddable. As I said before, I'm not going to change just to suit your lifestyle and your beliefs, religious or otherwise.

And guess what, you're not only insulting Christianity. You're insulting Islam and Judaism as well. They believe in THE SAME GOD. Only represented in different ways.

I'm aware of that. I used to have to constantly remind other Christians of this when they would bash Islam. Again, preaching to me is a bad idea; I know what I'm talking about.

However, in the end, I lost, but I apologized for offending anyone, unlike you who just seems to keep offending others. Believe me buddy, you're not going to win.

No offense, but I'm probably more capable of arguing my point than you are. I took the name "lucid" for a reason, and am somewhat well known for being open-minded, and for winning arguments.

The problem is that I'm too experienced and too intelligent for that tactic to work on me. Claiming out loud, "I'll be the bigger man" is a tactic to make it appear like you're giving it up, but you're really trying to get that last word in edgewise. If you were really the bigger man, you would have dropped it, rather than announcing that you intend to drop it.

But I have to say that the replies in this topic amuse me, not only because I haven't been moderated yet while the ones who are "offended" have been, but also because being preachy to me is a bad idea. I reiterate, I was a Christian for over twenty years . Understanding the religion so well was one of the reasons I gave it up. Sorry, but I can't find the "logic" in cities being destroyed because of the homosexual relations within those cities, diversity and different ideas being a "punishment" from God, and the entire Book of Revelation.

Logic has everything to do with the subject, which is whether or not it's proper to continue to insult/offend people once you realize you're doing it.

Don't insult/offend the people who still have the faith to follow what they believe in. Just because you don't respect it doesn't mean you have the right to belittle it as you choose.

I didn't insult anyone here. As I said before, I have seen actual religious flamewars on this site before. Calling God a fictional character is not moddable. Insulting anyone who believes in God is what's moddable. And I think you'll find it hard to point out an instance where I bashed anyone for not believing in God.

This, on the other hand, is considered offensive and trolling. What you're implying is that since I made a joke that happened to have the word "God" in it, and because I gave up Christianity after twenty years - which is probably longer than some of you have been alive - I'm "evil."

Can you see the circular, self-righteous logic here? Complaining about being offended, and turning around and calling someone "evil?" Ladies and gentlemen, THIS is why I quit Christianity.
